500 Beds Medical College, Sangli
The 500-bed Medical College at Sangli was a competition entry designed as an extension of the existing Sangli Civil Hospital. Though unbuilt, the design envisioned a state-of-the-art medical institution integrating seamlessly with the existing healthcare infrastructure. The planning maintained the orientation of existing hospital corridors for functional continuity. Given the hot climate, additional shading devices were incorporated to enhance thermal comfort.
The façade was designed as a passive shading system, reducing heat gain while maintaining aesthetics. Open courtyards and naturally ventilated spaces ensured energy efficiency.

The layout prioritized efficient circulation for students, staff, and patients. Lecture halls, labs, and hospital wards were strategically placed for operational ease. The structure was designed to stand as a city-level landmark, symbolizing progress in public healthcare. Material selection focused on durability and low maintenance for long-term sustainability. Green building strategies were integrated to optimize natural light and ventilation.

The design balanced modern architectural expression with medical functionality. Thoughtfully designed public spaces aimed to enhance interaction and learning. Despite not being realized, the project demonstrated an innovative and climate-responsive approach to medical infrastructure.
